Congratulations to DCHS's first ever HOSA Chapter. They attended their very first Spring Leadership Conference this week and brought home a Gold and a Bronze! The HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) club at DCHS just attended their first State Leadership Conference in Billings. Megan Frank took third place on her Research Poster and first place in Sports Medicine! Great job everyone!

Out of the Darkness, Campus Walk - Challenges Update!
Clubs and Sports team challenge: Key Club continues to be this week's DCHS Club/Sports Team with the most funds raised, having raised $437.00 thus far. Keep up the dedication DCHS Clubs!
Student Body Activity Challenge: Being physically active is linked to positive mental health, so Key Club challenges the student body to see who can track the most activity between March 1st and the end of April. Lilly has continued her reign in first place with 4755 minutes/79+ hours tracked. In second place, we have Jazmine, with 2530 minutes/42+ hours tracked. Remember activities like sports practice, dance, walking, and hiking count towards your minutes. We would love to see more of our student body involved in the Activity Challenge.

Where: DCC Toepke Auditorium
Who: Hosted by our Student Government Officers - Panelists include Avis Anderson, Rose Marie Aus,Briana Berg, Laura Glueckert, Angie Hagen, Pamela Harr, Teresea Olson and Jennifer Weeding The purpose is to highlight the contributions of women leaders in our community, both past and present. ASB officers have come up with a great list of thought provoking questions for our panelists. Should be super interesting. Let us know if you know of any of your female student leader groups are attending and we'll publicly welcome them. I encourage them to come with questions as we'll have an open Q&A session.
Also in honor of Asian Heritage Month (May) and part of DCC's Author Series - Thursday May 19th - Mark T. Johnson will be presenting on his new book The Middle Kingdom under the Big Sky - A History of the Chinese Experience in Montana. Mark is an incredible presenter and fellow educator. He develops lesson plans and presents to classrooms of all ages.

This is a reminder to students that they should not park in faculty, visitor parking, or areas that are not designated parking spots. If you do, your vehicle may not be there when you need it to be, as in, it will be towed at the owner's expense.
Key Club: Remember you have a lunch meeting today for officer elections.
DCHS Key Club Blood Drive is tomorrow in the Board Room by the cafeteria. If you are 16 or older, and wish to donate blood, see the sign-up sheet in the office for an available time slot. The permission forms, which are very important for those under 18, are in a stack next to the sign-up sheet.
Here are some pre- blood donation instructions:
* Drink plenty of water the day BEFORE donating blood.
* On the day of donation, eat a healthy low-fat meal BEFORE donating, and drink 8-16 oz of water within 30 minutes BEFORE the donation. *Being well-hydrated helps prevent dizziness and fainting. Water or sports drinks are a great choice!
* Make sure to bring a photo ID with you to the blood drive.

Grand March will be Saturday, March 19th, at 8PM
PROM: The last day to purchase prom tickets is Thursday, March 17th. No exceptions.

JUNIORS: Decorating and set up on the stage for Prom will begin right after school on Wednesday, March 16th. We have three days to get the stage decorated and set up.
DCHS Key Club will host a Vitalant School Blood Drive on March 17th. The Blood Drive is open to school staff and students. If you are 16 or older, and wish to donate blood, see the sign-up sheet in the office for an available time slot. The permission forms, which are very important for those under 18, are in a stack next to the sign-up sheet.
* Remember to drink an extra 16 oz of water before your appointment (Start hydrating the day before giving blood!)
*Eat a healthy meal before donating. (Don't skip breakfast or lunch)

Over the next few weeks, we will be posting tips and strategies to support safe social media practices and responsible cell phone usage. Our goal is to start a conversation and provide some ideas for everyone to use. Tip #1: Create screen free times or zones at home. Consider carving out regular family time when screens are either put away or enjoyed together.
